Eta Omega Chapter was recognized as Omega Psi Phi's Georgia Social Action Chapter of the Year and Afro-American Life Chapter of the Year in 2019.
Eta Omega Chapter’s most recent honors from Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated reflect a commitment to our community. The awards came from the Fraternity’s Georgia Statewide Organization during its 2019 conference in September.
The Social Action Chapter of the Year (2019) in Georgia was in recognition of numerous activities serving the public good. Among them: providing Christmas gifts to dozens of children as they had Brunch with Santa, planting 100 trees in a single day to beautify a neighborhood, raising thousands of dollars for Big Brother/Big Sisters, co-sponsoring Blood Drives to address an urgent need, honoring 84 senior fathers at a Pre-Fathers Day Breakfast which we prepared and served, and supporting The Miracle League which gives special needs children a chance to play baseball.
The Afro-American Life Chapter of the Year (2019) in Georgia was in recognition of our community-wide celebration of Kwanzaa, our support of the NAACP, our Chapter Centennial Black History Program at the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History, and the powerful message noted civil rights attorney Brother Benjamin L. Crump gave at our annual Achievement Week Awards Banquet.
