After a very competitive selection process, 13 young men emerged from a pool of 21 applicants to become Eta Omega Chapter’s 2021 scholarship recipients. Each applicant was evaluated using the following criteria:
- Graduating senior from a high school in Eta Omega’s service area;
- Civic and community activities;
- 3.2 or higher GPA (grade point average);
- Three letters of recommendation;
- An essay submission on the topic, “How has virtual learning impacted my college and career aspirations?”
- Virtual interview with Eta Omega Scholarship Committee
The scholarship recipients were recognized during Eta Omega Chapter’s annual W.T. Leaphart Scholars Banquet on May 18, 2021. The event, held virtually for the second consecutive year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is named for the late Bro. Leaphart, the Chapter’s longtime scholarship chairman who passed in 2019. The scholars, their families and members of the community joined with the Brothers in celebrating the young men’s accomplishments.
